Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown Tasting Notes The wine possesses a purple-black hue in the glass that is almost completely opaque at its core. The aromatic profile is densely layered with notes of smoked meat, lavender oil, cedar bark, worn leather, spearmint, and blueberries. The mouth feel displays a steady contrast of weight and levity, with powerful notes of clove oil, macerated black fruit, allspice, cocoa nib, lilac and crushed rock. Due to the higher skin-to-juice ratio this vintage, the flavors are still tightly packed together and the tannic structure takes some time to unfold. With an hour in a decanter, this wine starts to show its true colors and those that are patient, will be richly rewarded.

Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown Tasting Notes This wine is rich with color, aromas and layers of flavor complexity. The color in the glass can best be described as an opaque purple, with a dark plum halo. Aromatic notes swell from the glass suggesting lilac, cocoa powder, macerated blueberries, eucalyptus, and cedar. The mouthfeel of this wine expresses itself with chewy layers of spice-dusted blackberries, cinnamon stick, cassis reduction, crushed rock and distressed leather. While still young, this wine shows great potential to go the distance over 10+ years. The flavors are intricately packed and will benefit with several hours in a decanter or a few years in the cellar.

Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown Tasting Notes The Estate Cabernet Sauvignon shows off an admirable tightrope balancing act of dark complex fruit and structured tertiary notes. In the glass, the wine displays a completely opaque dark purple hue with a garnet halo. Moving in for a closer inspection, aromatic notes emerge in waves, suggesting boysenberry paste, toasted cedar, black licorice and cocoa nib. The palate has a dynamic fruit core layered with notes of pomegranate, cassis, star anise, lavender and nutmeg. While the center of the palate expresses the most fruit, there is also a finely integrated tannin frame on the periphery, providing excellent support, leading into the mouth-watering floral finish that lasts for over a minute. With a good decant this wine will fully open up and reveal all.
