Canada native Cliff Lede fell in love with Napa Valley and its potential for world-class Cabernet Sauvignon after visiting in the 1990s. After searching for years, he discovered an opportunity to acquire vineyards and a small existing winery in the acclaimed Stags Leap District. He founded Cliff Lede Vineyards there in 2002 with the goal of creating an estate that reflected both precision farming and an appreciation for art, music, and place. Over the next few decades, he established the iconic hillside Poetry Vineyard and expanded the estate’s footprint with acquisitions in Calistoga and Carneros. Today the vineyard holdings total 53 acres in Stags Leap District, 20 acres in Calistoga, and 87 acres in Carneros and in addition to 2023 Crossfade Red Wine sent to members recently, Cliff Lede Vineyards produces a diverse portfolio of estate and vineyard-designate wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, and additional limited-production blends.
Jason Lede, general manager and COO tells Club 672, “Cliff Lede Vineyards is a family-driven estate supported by a deeply experienced, full-time team. My father, Cliff, founded the winery and remains a visionary and driving force. Our director of winemaking, Christopher Tynan, leads all winemaking operations, working closely with our vineyard, cellar, hospitality, and sales teams. Many of our team members have been with us for years, which creates real continuity and shared purpose.”
Guests are welcome at the estate tasting room and Jason continues, “Visitors can experience our wines in an immersive, art- and music-inspired setting. Beyond the sweeping views of the Stags Leap palisades from our outdoor seating and our Morning Walk in the Vineyard experience, our Backstage Tasting Lounge offers a unique atmosphere to taste some of our best wines in a classic rock-driven art gallery.
