Producer Spotlight: Baldacci Family Vineyards

Napa Valley

Brenda and Tom Baldacci purchased their Stags Leap District property in 1998 because they fell in love with the beauty of the land and envisioned it as a place where their extended family could gather for generations. What began as a family dream evolved into a winery focused on crafting a diverse portfolio of exceptional Napa Valley wines. Their son Michael carries on the family legacy as director of winemaking and vineyards. He oversees everything from the vineyards to the cellar, working alongside his team to ensure every wine reflects the character of the Baldacci estate. As a second-generation vintner, he finds it rewarding to continue building on the foundation his parents created while bringing his own perspective to the wines.

Today, the Baldaccis farm more than 50 acres of estate vineyards across four of Napa Valley’s premier appellations: Stags Leap District, Calistoga, Diamond Mountain District, and Los Carneros. Each site has its own personality, giving the winemaking team the opportunity to produce wines that showcase the incredible diversity of Napa Valley. In addition to their estate owned vineyards they work with a select group of longtime vineyard partners to source exceptional fruit from other appellations allowing them to craft a portfolio with remarkable breadth, depth, and a true sense of place.

Baldacci Family Vineyards has a dedicated, full-time team that’s involved in every aspect of the winemaking process. Michael leads the winemaking program from vineyard to bottle, working alongside his assistant winemaker, Hugo Garcia, and cellar master, Miguel Perez. Michael tells 672, “Both Hugo and Miguel bring years of Napa Valley experience and an incredible attention to detail.” Beyond the cellar, the entire team shares the same commitment to quality, from vineyard management to hospitality. One of the things Michael values most about being a family-owned winery “is that we’re all deeply invested in every bottle we produce, and that hands-on collaboration definitely comes through in the wines.”

Baldacci Family Vineyards may be best known for their Cabernet Sauvignon, but they also produce a diverse portfolio that includes Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, sparkling wine, Syrah, and a late-harvest Gewürztraminer. While most of the wines are sold directly through the winery, they also work with a select group of restaurant and retail partners. Visitors to the estate are welcome to join the team for a variety of tasting experiences including “The Taste Of Napa Valley,” which includes a private cave tour and barrel tasting. Reservations are required.
