Get to know George and Nancy Bravante, the founders of Bravante Vineyards
George and Nancy Bravante made their first vintage of Bravante in 1995. They both work in the day-to-day business of producing wine from grapes grown on their two vineyards which total 12 acres, one measuring eight acres and the other measuring four acres. Their consulting winemaker is Phillip Titus of Chappellet and Taylor Shoptaw is the onsite winemaker.
When asked how they got into the world of wine George explained, “Nancy was working for Hal Barnett of Barnett Vineyards in his real estate company. We decided to buy property in Napa Valley after visiting his winery in 1992 and started growing grapes in 1993. We then moved to making wine at Frank Family custom crush facility in 1996, and afterwards built our own winery in 2008”
They built in an excellent location in the Howell Mountain AVA with neighbors such as Arkenstone, Cade #13, and Neal. In addition to the delicious 2017 Merlot recently sent to our 672 wine club members Bravante makes wine from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Sauvignon Blanc. Their wines are available in Texas, Florida, New Jersey, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina.
George and Nancy welcome you to visit them when in Napa Valley and although they don’t have a tasting room with walk in hours visitors can call or email to make an appointment and schedule a tasting every day from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
